Daylight Saving Time ends today (October 31st). While your phones and computers will automatically “fall back” an hour, you'll still need to check your ovens, microwaves, and, most importantly, your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. The beginning and end of Daylight Saving Time is a good time to make sure all your alarms are working and to change the batteries.
Also, note the manufacture date of your devices. The National Fire Protection Association recommends replacing smoke alarms when they are 10 years old. Most carbon monoxide alarms have a lifespan of about seven years before they lose efficacy. If your devices need replacement, contact us to install new smoke/CO alarms for you. We recommend Nest Protect smoke & CO alarms, which check their batteries and sensors over 400 times a day, have a friendly human voice that tells you where the danger is, and can send alerts to your phone. Contact AvidWorks Technology for details. To date, we’ve earned more than 920 five-star reviews for our top quality work (Google, Nest, Trustpilot, Yelp).
